Kapitalistische Geister in der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft: Kreative zwischen wirtschaftlichem Zwang und künstlerischem Drang

With creatives and their work conditions, the book sheds light on an area of work that is paradigmatic for today's society. Based on differentiated theoretical and empirical reflection, it makes the case for a practice-oriented differentiation of the debates about creative work by presenting an in-depth field analysis of the central German 'creative location', Berlin, and its design industry. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the working constellations in the creative economy. It is mapping the terrain of subjective ideas and interests that are linked to creative work by offering a typology of strategies of self-interpretation and positioning. There has not been a comparably extensive, empirical based study about creative work in German-language countries yet. With regard to the international discussion, this study, closes a knowledge gap in regards to the creative sector in the German context. It is a well-founded contribution regarding the theoretical modelling of creative work in general. It offers an in-depth empirical analysis of creative work in Berlin.
